TO:  PHI Employees - All
FROM:  Al A. Gonsoulin
DATE:  September 4, 2019
SUBJECT:  Until Next Time

As we exit bankruptcy I would like to thank you for what you have done, what you continue to do. You are the people on the front lines, in the cockpit, in the back of the helicopter, in the shop, behind the scenes, in the offices, in the hangars, in the heliports who have made this company all that it is. And, that is special. Because of you, and your commitment to safety and to doing what is right, we have become the safest and highest quality company of our kind anywhere in the world. But more, it is your commitment to each other that stands out most to me.

Thank you for the dedication, the lessons learned and shared, and the relationships that have been forged. Those are what I will take with me on my next journeys. In moments like this, I reflect on my parents – my mom always said, “be kind” and my dad said, “Never quit.” I have tried to live up to their expectations – with you and for you. And, I could not be more proud of what we have done together.

As leaders, we worked through a demanding process and have done as we promised – to do what is best for the company, and I trust for you. We have ensured that PHI remains together, stronger, more prepared and better positioned for the changing industries we serve today and in the future.

Change is the one constant in business – our leadership team is well prepared to anticipate, to react to and to preempt that change. I could not be more proud of the leaders of this company. Lance, Trudy, Dave, David, and Keith, you are people of great integrity, honor and vision. I have the utmost confidence in this management team and what you will achieve with and for the men and women of PHI. You are the absolute right people, in the right place, at the right time for our company, our customers, and for our industries as well.

As each of you across PHI go forward, do so with pride. Do so knowing you work for a truly great company made up of some of the finest people – men and women of great character who are committed to doing what is right. I am proud to have been by your side for all these years. But, I made the decision that it is my time to retire and take on new adventures in business and in life.

Several people have asked what can they do for me – that is simple: keep doing what you do best. I will be watching proudly as I begin the next phase of my life with my wife, family and grandchildren. I am excited about the future – for you and me. Thanks for your kind notes, emails and well wishes.

This is not goodbye, rather, it is until next time. And, I hope that time is soon. I am genuinely optimistic about the future of this company, its leadership and each of you. Continue to believe in each other, do the right thing and be safe.

All the best,
